I'm Lee Robertson, and Barbary Cars is a one-car private hire service based at Morwenstow, covering North Cornwall and North Devon. Most of my work is walkers on the South West Coast Path who need to get back to where they left the car — Hartland Quay to Morwenstow is the run I do most often, and I know that stretch and the timings on it well.

Because it's just me and one car, you get the same driver who answered the phone, and I can be flexible about pick-up points that a bigger firm wouldn't attempt. It also means I can't be everywhere at once, so the earlier you book the better.

Coast path and Tamara Way transfers

Leave your car at Hartland Quay, the Bush Inn at Morwenstow, or wherever you're starting, and I'll take you to the far end so you walk back to it — or the other way round if you'd rather get the driving out of the way first. Runs I do regularly:

• Hartland Quay to Morwenstow (or reverse) — my most common booking
• Morwenstow to Bude — Duckpool, Sandymouth and the Bude car parks
• Appledore to Clovelly — including Westward Ho!, Peppercombe and Bucks Mills
• Clovelly to Hartland Quay — Hartland Point, Elmscott and Docton Mill
• Tamara Way — drop-offs and pick-ups at the Tamar Lakes

Rucksacks, poles and boots are all fine, and I don't mind wet weather gear or a bit of mud. Well-behaved dogs are welcome — just mention it when you book. Four passengers maximum.

If you're walking the path over several days and want your bags moved between B&Bs rather than carried, ask me about luggage transfer.

Fares

Prices are for up to 4 passengers, one way, and were reviewed in July 2026. Evenings and early starts are by prior arrangement and cost a little more. Longer runs and airport transfers are quoted individually — give me the postcodes and I'll give you a fixed price before you book, with nothing added afterwards.

Other journeys

Airport and rail transfers. Exeter and Bristol airports, and Barnstaple or Exeter for the trains. Tell me your flight or train number and I'll keep an eye on it, so a delay doesn't leave you stranded.

Local trips. Morwenstow, Welcombe, Kilkhampton, Hartland, Bude and the villages in between — appointments, the shops, a meal out.

Days out. Hartland Abbey, Clovelly, Bude, Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Tintagel and the rest of the coast, at whatever pace suits you.

Daytime is my usual working pattern; evenings and early morning starts are available by prior appointment. For walkers, a day or two's notice is usually plenty in spring and autumn, but summer weekends and the school holidays fill up, so book as far ahead as you can.
